BACKGROUND

  1. Establishment of PPQ

    01 October 2001

    Quality Management at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) started with the establishment of the Quality Assurance Centre (PPQ) on 1 October 2001. PPQ is placed under the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and a director has been appointed as the Head of the Responsibility Centre (PTj).

  2. MS ISO 9001:2000 Certification

    01 November 2003

    Starting November 2003, PPQ has taken steps to obtain MS ISO 9001:2000 certification for the whole of UPSI.

  3. BPAQ Upgrade

    01 October 2008

    Following the importance of this division to UPSI, it was upgraded to the Academic Development and Quality Division (BPAQ) on 1 October 2008.

  4. Restructuring To 5 Units

    01 March 2015

    On 1 March 2015, BPAQ was restructured into five units namely: Quality Management Unit, Focused Research Unit, Professional and Talent Development Unit, Administration and Finance Unit and Information Technology Unit. The Focused Research Unit was rebranded to the Curriculum and Academic Innovation Unit in 2015.

  5. Restructuring To 2 PTj

    16 May 2017

    On 16 May 2017, BPAQ was restructured into two (2) focused PTjs, namely the Quality Management Division (BPQ) and the Centre for Academic Development (PPA). BPQ is placed under the Registrar's portfolio with academic quality management and organisational development functions while PPA remains under the TNC (AA) portfolio with academic development functions. At the beginning of its establishment, BPQ was headed by one (1) Chief Deputy Registrar grade N54, one (1) Administrative Officer Grade N44, one (1) implementing staff of grade N29 and two (2) implementing staff of grade N19.

  6. Compilation of positions

    02 January 2018

    The arrangement took place again at BPQ on 2 January 2018 by placing one (1) Director of grade DS54, one (1) Deputy Registrar grade N48, one (1) Administrative Officer grade N44 and two (2) implementing staff grade N19. The addition of new functions was also made by including tasks involving Academic Quality and Customer Management as well as the implementation of existing functions, namely Non-Academic Quality and Organizational Development. With the supplement, BPQ is repositioned under the TNC (AA) portfolio.

  7. Approval of Deputy Director & Coordinator

    16 July 2018

    To implement the expanding functions of BPQ, on 16 July 2018, UPSI's top management approved the position of Deputy Director and Coordinator bringing the total number of posts in BPQ to eight (8) people. The operations at BPQ were streamlined by forming four units, namely the Academic Quality and Accreditation Unit, Audit and Benchmarking Unit, Institutional Quality and Organisational Development Unit and Administration and Finance Unit.
